British Columbia and Manitoba Conduct Immigration Draws; Alberta Shares Application Processing Updates

This week, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) both held immigration draws. Meanwhile, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) released updates on its application processing across various provincial streams.

British Columbia and Manitoba 

selected candidates based on criteria such as work experience, educational background, and participation in specific recruitment initiatives.

Provincial Immigration Draws (September 27 to October 4):

British Columbia:
On October 2, BCPNP conducted two draws:

  1. A general draw
  2. A sector-specific draw targeting high-demand sectors

In the general draw, 81 candidates were invited across different immigration streams, with the following minimum scores required:

In the second draw, the BCPNP invited candidates with professional experience within in-demand sectors of the British Columbia labour market:


Manitoba

On September 27, the MPNP held two draws for immigration candidates.

The MPNP held the first draw under the International Education stream and issued 269 letters of advice to apply.

In the second draw, for the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, the MPNP issued 79 letters of advice to apply to candidates who had been invited under a “Strategic Recruitment Initiative”. Candidates required a score of at least 582 to be invited.

Of the total of 348 candidates invited under both draws, 56 declared having a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code.

Alberta

The AAIP published processing updates this week.

These updates report how many nominations have been issued, how much of their provincial allocation needs to be filled, and the current status of processing for each stream. These are detailed in the tables below:

Note: For candidates whose work permit is expiring in 2024, the AAIP is evaluating these applications based on the ‘Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective Provincial Nominee Program Candidates’, to determine if candidates may be issued a letter in support of a work permit extension.
